The Alexandria Branch of the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) is one of the oldest and most important research institutions in Egypt and may be in the Middle East and the Arab region as a whole. It has been specifically established, as a one of the four branches of the NIOF, for scientific research in the field of Marine Sciences and Fisheries. Its policy is carried out through intensive research programs in the field of applied research, and in all specialties of marine science, fisheries, aquaculture and oceanography. Moreover, it provides a variety of professional opportunities and services stemming from the field of scientific and research experiences in the Institute. This is achieved by applying the Institute's strategy over the last century and the next years, which mainly depends on finding solutions to the problems of scientific, environmental, economic and social importance, whether on the regional or international level, taking into consideration the global perspective, as well as the global challenges facing the beach and aquatic environments in the late 21st century.
